What a fun way to decorate your home for Christmas. Foam candy canes are easy and smart. They are waterproof, so you can also hang a few outside to share the Christmas spirit. Your neighbors will be curious about how you made this DIY project.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using fishing line

Step 1. Buy a pool noodle
Red or white is best, but any color is fine as you can cover the noodle to get the effect you want. This process keeps the noodle intact, so it can be used again in the pool or more after the holidays.

Step 2. Bend the noodle
Measure the noodle and divide the measurement into three equal parts. Bend only the top part of the noodle. This gives you the oxygen form. Keep it in this mold for about 20 minutes. You can do that by holding it, sitting on it, or placing books on it.
If you want to save time, you can estimate the correct bend and bend the noodle according to your preference

Step 3. Secure with fishing line
Tie the fishing line around the two parts of the bend. This ensures that the shape is maintained.
You can always update the shape later if you're not happy with it

Step 4. Make the stripes
If the noodle is red, use white electrician's tape to make the stripes, or vice versa. If you chose a different color, such as purple, cover the entire noodle with one color first before adding the stripes in the other color. Wrap the red or white tape diagonally around the noodle and you're done! You now have a foam candy cane.
If you like the stripes extra precise, measure 5-7cm for each stripe (or larger if you like mega stripes). Always make a small mark with a pencil. While wrapping the tape, use the markings as a guide. This ensures that your stripes are even and constant in size
Method 2 of 2: Using a PVC pipe

Step 1. Create a shape
Using a piece of plywood and the lid of a waste bin (anything that is round will work), trace a semicircle to form an arc.

Step 2. Create a channel
To prevent the PVC from moving during bending, create a channel by placing small pieces of wood along the drawn shape. They should be spaced 10-12.5 cm apart and should be on either side of the drawn line.
It is best to screw these pieces in place so that they do not move

Step 3. Bend the PVC
Place your shape on the floor and take your 1 cm thick PVC pipe. Measure the tube and divide the measurement into three equal parts. Using a hair dryer, begin to slide the PVC through the duct as you heat it so that it becomes bendable. Bend only the top part of the tube.
- If you want to save time, you can simply estimate the correct bend and bend the pipe according to your preference.
- Be careful not to keep the heat source in the same place for too long, as the pipe can melt.
- It will take a few minutes, so take your time.
- Wait for the tube to cool before removing it from the mold.

Step 4. Slide a noodle over the PVC pipe
Depending on the size of the tube, you may need two noodles.

Step 5. Cover with duct tape
Cover the seams where the noodles meet (if applicable) first. Then cover the entire stick with white duct tape.
Due to the bends and material of the noodle, the tape may not be completely flat

Step 6. Create stripes
Wrap the red tape diagonally around the noodle. You can now finish your decoration with glitter, bows, etc.
