In this article you will learn exactly how to unlock all characters in Mario Kart Wii. The Mario Kart Wii characters are arranged in three levels: light, medium and heavy. The level of the character determines what kind of car or motorcycle you can use. The characters differ in several ways. For example, Baby Mario has a weight advantage and can control his vehicle better than, say, Toad. The differences between the characters are very small and should therefore have little influence on your choice. You can find out who is your favorite by trying out all the characters.
Steps
Method 1 of 11: Baby Daisy or Daisy
Step 1. Get a minimum of 1 star in all 150cc or 50cc Wii Grand Prix Cups or participate in 1950 races
. You have now unlocked Baby Daisy.
Step 2. Finish first in the 150cc Special Cup or compete in 2850 races
. You have now unlocked Daisy.
Method 2 of 11: Baby Luigi
Step 1. Unlock the 8 Expert Staff Ghost Data in Time Trials, win 100 Wi-Fi Ghost Races or participate in 3150 races
. You have now unlocked Baby Luigi.
Method 3 of 11: Birdo
Step 1. Play Time Trials on 16 different tracks, win 250 Wi-Fi races or participate in 1350 races
. You have now unlocked Birdo.
Method 4 of 11: Bowser Jr and Dry Bowser
Step 1. Get at least 1 star in all 100cc Retro Grand Prix Cups or participate in 3450 races
. You have now unlocked Browser Jr!
Step 2. Get at least 1 star in all 150cc Wii Grand Prix Cups or participate in 4350 races
. You have now unlocked Dry Bowser.
Method 5 of 11: Diddy Kong
Step 1. Win the 50cc Lightning Cup or compete in 450 races
. You have now unlocked Diddy Kong.
Method 6 of 11: Dry Bones
Step 1. Win the 100cc Leaf Cup or participate in 1050 races
. You have now unlocked Dry Bones.
Method 7 of 11: King Boo
Step 1. Win the 50cc Star Cup or take part in 750 races
. You have now unlocked King Boo.
Method 8 of 11: Rosalina
Step 1. Get at least 1 star in all Mirror Grand Prix Cups, participate in 4950 races or play or participate in 50 races and save the Super Mario Galaxy game files to your Wii
You have now unlocked Rosalina.
Step 2. Win all 150cc cups
Defeat 18 staff ghosts. You have now unlocked Rosalina.
Method 9 of 11: Toadette
Step 1. Play Time Trials on all 32 different tracks, win 1000 Wi-Fi races or participate in 2550 races
You have now unlocked Toadette.
Method 10 of 11: Miic
Step 1. Win the 100cc Special Cup
This is how you unlock a Mii (Outfit A).
Step 2. Unlock all (32) Expert Staff Ghosts in Time Trials
This is how you unlock a Mii (Outfit B).
Method 11 of 11: Funky Kong
Step 1. Unlock 4 expert staff Ghosts to unlock Funky Kong
Or take part in 2250 races!
Tips
- Try to cut off a piece in each level so that you unlock characters faster and easier.
- Having a Super Mario Galaxy file on your Wii makes it a lot easier to unlock Rosalina.
- Play against 8 Staff Ghosts on the Mario Kart Channel to unlock Baby Luigi.
- Be sure to use boosters and shields wisely.
Warnings
- To unlock characters, you will need to take the above steps as a Single Player.
- Toadette is not unlockable on some consoles. This has to do with server errors by Nintendo.
- It can take quite some time to unlock all characters.
