This wikiHow teaches you how to set a new ringtone for incoming voice calls on WhatsApp Messenger, with iPhone and Android. For iOS 10 and above, you need to change the ringtone for all mobile calls to change your WhatsApp ringtone. For Android or iOS 9 and older, you can change WhatsApp ringtone in the app individually.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using iPhone with iOS 10 or later

Step 1. Open your iPhone's settings
Find and tap the icon

on the home screen to open the settings menu.

Step #2. Tap on Ringtone & Notifications in 'Settings'
This option appears next to a white speaker icon in a red square. This opens the ringtone and vibrate settings.

Step #3. Tap on the Ringtone box
You can find this under the heading 'SOUNDS AND VIBRATION PATTERNS'.
This will change the ringtone for all WhatsApp and other calls through your mobile operator. You cannot change the WhatsApp call ringtone without changing it for all mobile calls

Step 4. Select the ringtone you want to use
Tap a ringtone in the list to hear a sample.
You'll see a blue check mark next to the ringtone you select

Step 5. Tap on the blue icon

Back top left.
This will take you back to the menu Sounds and save the new ringtone.
This will change the ringtone for all incoming calls, including WhatsApp calls and calls through your mobile operator
Method 2 of 3: Using iPhone with iOS 9 or older

Step 1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your iPhone
The WhatsApp icon looks like a white phone inside a green speech bubble. You can find it on the home screen or in an app folder.

Step #2. Tap the Settings tab at the bottom right
This button looks like a gray gear icon on a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen. It opens the settings menu.

Step #3. Tap on Notifications
It's next to a red icon in the 'Settings' menu.

Step #4. Tap on Ringtone under 'CALL WHATSAPP'
This option is at the bottom of the 'Notifications' page. It opens a list of the available ringtones.
- This option may not be available on newer versions of WhatsApp.
- With the latest updates, WhatsApp no longer allows you to set a custom ringtone for voice calls, although you can still change the message and group notifications.

Step 5. Select the ringtone you want to use
Tap each ringtone in the list to hear a preview of it.

Step 6. Tap on Save at the top right
It's a blue button in the top right corner of the screen. This will save the new ringtone.
You will hear this tone when you receive a voice call on WhatsApp
Method 3 of 3: Using Android

Step 1. Open WhatsApp Messenger on your Android
The WhatsApp icon looks like a white phone inside a green speech bubble. You'll find it in the Apps drawer.

Step #2. Tap the ⋮ icon at the top right
This button is located in the top right corner of the screen. This will open a drop-down menu.

Step #3. Tap on Settings on the menu
This is the last option at the bottom of the drop-down menu. It will open the settings menu on a new page.

Step #4. Tap on Notifications in 'Settings'
This will open the options for notifications, vibration, pop-up notifications, and ringtone.

Step 5. Scroll down to the 'Calls' section
You can change the ringtone and vibration settings for incoming WhatsApp calls here.

Step 6. Tap on Ringtone under 'Calls'
This will open a list of all ringtone options in a new pop-up window.

Step 7. Tap a ringtone to select it
Tap a ringtone in the list to hear a sample.

Step 8. Tap on OK at the bottom right
This confirms the new ringtone.
