Step 2. Upload a TikTok video without music

Use the video recorder to record the audio you want to use on TikTok. Tap +, record or upload a video, tap Next one or the icon that looks like a check mark. Edit your video then tap To post to upload it.

  • You will only be able to upload TikTok videos if you don't add music. You will also know that the video does not contain music if the cover art contains your profile picture.
  • If TikTok can identify music, your video will be categorized with other videos containing similar music and you won't be able to name the audio.
  • When you upload the video/audio you will want to give it a private status so that others can't see what you're working on until you're done.

Step #3. Tap on the profile icon

That's the icon that looks like a person and is located in the lower right corner of the TikTok app. This will display a list of all uploaded videos and audios.

Musical notes come out. It's the icon that looks like your profile picture and rotates on a plate. It's in the bottom right corner of the video. This will display the audio menu. Once your profile picture appears at the top of the recording icon, you will be able to tap on it.

Step 6. Tap the Edit button or Set audio title.

It's located just next to or below the audio's name, at the top of the screen. The default name for the audio is "original audio - [your profile name]".

    You will only be able to rename your files once. Think carefully about what name you want to give your original audios.

Tap the text box labeled "Title your original audio" and then use the keyboard that appears on the screen to enter a name for the audio.

That's the pink box in the top right corner. Then a pop-up window will be shown in the middle of the screen for confirmation.

A pop-up window will again be displayed in the center of the screen for confirmation. This confirms and applies the name change. Tap the record icon while previewing a video to access the audio of that video. Then tap Use this audio.
