This wikiHow teaches you how to check the status of an incoming or outgoing friend request on Snapchat. You can do this on both iPhone and Android smartphones.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: View pending friend requests

Step 1. Open

Snapchat.
Tap the Snapchat app icon, which resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. If you're signed in to your Snapchat account, this will open the camera view.
- If you're not signed in, tap LOGIN and then enter your email address and password.

Step #2. Tap on your profile icon
This icon is in the top left corner of the screen.

Step #3. Tap on Add Friends
This is at the top of the page.

Step 4. Check the names in the 'ADD ME' section
Any name that appears under the "ADDED ME" section belongs to a Snapchat user who has added you as a friend.
- You can add people listed here by clicking to the right of their name Accept to tap.
Method 2 of 3: See who added you on iPhone

Step 1. Open

Snapchat.
Tap the Snapchat app icon, which resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. If you're signed in to your Snapchat account, this will open the camera view.
- If you're not signed in, tap LOGIN and then enter your email address and password.

Step 2. Check the pending requests section
If the person just added you, you'll receive a notification in the pending section. To check if you have notifications, do the following:
- Tap the profile icon in the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on Add friends.
- Look for names under the "ADD ME" heading at the top of the screen.
- If you don't see any names here, tap the back button in the top left corner, then tap X in the top left corner.

Step #3. Tap on the 'Friends' icon
It's a speech bubble icon at the bottom left of the screen. This will open a list of recent snapchats and conversations.

Step #4. Tap on the 'New Chat' icon
This speech bubble icon is located in the top right corner of the screen. You will see a list of your friends appear.

Step 5. Find the friend you want to check
Scroll down until you see the name of the person you want to check the status of your friend request.

Step 6. Press and hold the friend's name
Doing this for about a second will bring up a pop-up menu informing you that the person's information will appear.

Step 7. View the friend's information
If you see a blue button to the right of his or her name that says "Added" in white, he or she hasn't added you yet; otherwise, the person responded to your friend request by adding you.
Method 3 of 3: See who added you on Android

Step 1. Open

Snapchat.
Tap the Snapchat app icon, which resembles a white ghost on a yellow background. If you're signed in to your Snapchat account, this will open the camera view.
- If you are not logged in, tap LOGIN and then enter your email address and password.

Step 2. Check the pending requests section
If the person just added you, you'll receive a notification in the pending section. To check if you have notifications, do the following:
- Tap the profile icon at the bottom left of the screen.
- Tap on Add friends.
- Look for names under the "ADD ME" heading at the top of the screen.
- If you don't see any names here, tap the back button in the top left corner, then tap X in the top left corner.

Step #3. Snap a Snap
Point your Android at a non-offensive object and tap the "Capture" circle at the bottom of the screen. This will create a photo snap.

Step #4. Tap on Send to
It's at the bottom right of the screen.

Step 5. Select your friend
Tap the name of the person you want to check the status of your friend request.
You may have to scroll down to find it

Step 6. Tap Send
It's at the bottom right of the screen. This will send your snap to the person and return you to the "Friends" page.

Step 7. Refresh the 'Friends' page
Swipe down on the Friends page and release the screen. This ensures that you see the most current results.

Step 8. Check the 'Sent' icon
If the "Sent" icon below your snap is a red arrow, the person has added you. If this arrow is gray and has the word "Pending" next to it, the person hasn't added you yet.
