Snapchat is an instant messaging mobile app for iPhone and Android that can send images and short videos instead of the usual text. The app is very nice and unique, but it has a disadvantage: you can only open Snaps (images) once and for a limited time. But with the latest version, you can reopen Snaps you've already opened. You can also install various apps that allow you to save unopened Snaps for later viewing at your convenience.

Method 1 of 2: Using the Replay feature

Step 1. Download a Snaps storage app

  • Snapkeep (iOS)
  • SnapBox (iOS)
  • Snap Seeker (Android)

Step #2. Do not open the Snap you want to save

If you receive a Snap that you want to keep, make sure you don't open it in Snapchat first. If you do, then you can no longer get the image back with an app.

Step #3. Open the storage app

Log in to the storage app with your Snapchat login information. You will be logged out of Snapchat when you do this, meaning that if you want to reply to the Snap, you will have to re-open your Snapchat.

Step 4. Select the Snap you want to save

When you launch the app and log in, you'll be presented with a list of available Snaps that can be saved. If you haven't opened the Snap yet, it should be in this list. Select the Snap you want to save, and the image will be downloaded to your phone. You can then open it whenever you want.

  • Replay also works with videos.
  • You can only open 1 Snap every 24 hours. If you have multiple Snaps in your inbox from different senders, you can only open 1 per day.
