While it's not possible to easily view archived posts on Instagram on a PC or Mac, you can use BlueStacks and view the mobile app on Windows or Mac. This article will teach you how to view archived posts on Instagram on PC and Mac thanks to BlueStacks.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Installing BlueStacks
Step 1. Go to https://www.bluestacks.com/ in an internet browser
Popular browsers include Firefox and Chrome.
This download is for an Android emulator, so you can use your Android apps on your computer as you would with your Android device
Step 2. Click the green Download BlueStacks button
The browser will automatically detect whether you are using Mac or Windows and download it accordingly. A pop-up window will appear for the download location.
Step #3. Click on Save
The installation file will be saved to the location you chose in the previous step, probably the Downloads folder.
Step 4. Click on the installed file and follow the on-screen instructions to install BlueStack
click on Yes to allow changes when prompted. Read and accept all terms and conditions and proceed with the installation procedure.
Step 5. Click Install Now
During the download you will see a progress bar.
After the app has been downloaded, you will see a progress bar showing how the installation is progressing
Part 2 of 3: Download Instagram
Step #1. Open BlueStacks
This app is in your Start menu or in the Applications folder.
- The first time you start BlueStacks, it may take a while.
- The app will first ask you to sign in to a Google account or create one.
- You will be presented with a list of all installed apps that you can use with BlueStacks.
Step #2. Click on the search bar
It's in the top right corner of the window. A list of the most searched games is expanded.
Step 3. Type 'Instagram' and press ↵ Enter or ⏎ Return.
This will open a new tab called "App Center" in your app window or search results.
Step 4. Click on Instagram by Instagram
A Google Play Store window will open on the Instagram detail page.
If you have not yet signed up for a Google account or created a new account, you will be prompted to do so again. You need a Google account to download Android apps
Step 5. Click the green Install button
Part 3 of 3: Using Instagram to view archived posts
Step #1. Click the green Open button
The Instagram app will launch in BlueStacks. Your app window may shrink to reflect the size of a phone.
Step 2. Click Login or Create new account.
You can log in with your Facebook account or with your Instagram email and password.
Step 3. Click on your profile picture or silhouette
It's at the bottom right of the screen. Your profile page will open.
Step 4. Click on ☰
It's in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 5. Click on Archive
This is usually the first item in the menu next to the rewind icon. A list of your archived stories will appear.
Step 6. Click on the Story Archive drop-down menu
A drop-down menu will appear.
Step 7. Click on Message Archive
A list of your archived messages will appear.
Step 8. Click on a message to view it
- Your posts and all original responses will load.
- To remove a message from the archive, click on the three-dot menu icon in the top right corner of the message and then click Show on profile. It will reappear on your timeline where it originally stood.
