Create friend lists on Facebook

Suppose your boss has sent you a friend request on Facebook. Instead of immediately rejecting the request, it is better to learn how to create friends lists on Facebook, because that way you can control who sees what on Facebook. Then at least you know for sure that your boss doesn't see what you were up to in the pub last night.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Use the built-in Good Friends, Acquaintances, and Inaccessible lists

Step 1. Log in to facebook with your username and password

Step 2. Click "Friends" in the left column on your home page

Step 3. Click on "Good Friends" in the list that appears

Step 4. Click the "On this list" drop-down menu and choose "Friends"

Step 5. Click on the friends you want to add or remove from the list

Then click on "Finish".

Step 6. Go back to the list page

Edit the "Knowledges" or "Not Accessible" lists as needed.

• On the "Acquaintances" list you put people you know less well. Their information will rarely appear in your News Feed.
• On the "Not accessible" list, put people you want to see only your public posts or posts in which the person is tagged. They won't see your other posts.

Method 2 of 3: Edit Smartlists

Step 1. Click "Friends" in the left column on your home page

Step 2. View your smart lists

Smartlists are created by Facebook based on the information you add to your timeline. For example, you see lists relating to your profession, your employer, your education and your place of residence.

Step 3. Click on the list you want to manage

A news feed of the people on that list will now appear.

Step 4. Select "Manage List" on the top right corner of the News Feed

Choose the field you want to edit from the drop-down menu.

Step 5. Add friends to the list by entering something in the "Add (name) to this list" text box or by clicking on friends under "List suggestions"

Step 6. Return to the list page to edit any other lists

Method 3 of 3: Create your own list

Step 1. Click "Friends" in the left column on your home page

Step 2. Click "Create List" at the top of the page

Step 3. Type in the desired name for the list in "List name"

Enter the names of friends in "Members".

Step #4. Go back to the list page

The new list is now listed on the page.

Tips

• You can add Friends to lists when you're on their timeline. Mouse over the "Friends" button and select the list you want to add them to.
