No matter what page you have, it's always good to make sure you post new content regularly to keep your readers engaged with you and your page. That's why it can be useful to plan messages that will be posted at a later time. With Facebook's built-in functionalities, you can only do this if you're a group, but external apps also let you schedule posts on a personal page.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: With a browser on your computer

Step 1. Log in to Facebook on your computer

You must first log in to schedule posts:

  • Go to facebook.com.
  • Enter your email address and password.
  • Click on "Sign Up".

Step #2. Go to your other Facebook page

You cannot schedule posts on your personal account. You can only schedule posts to pages you've created - for example, groups, fan pages, or business pages. To get to one of these pages, click on the small arrow in the top right corner of your News Feed page (next to the lock). In the menu that now opens, click on the name of the page you created.

If you haven't created a page yet, you can do so by clicking "Create Page" in the same menu

Step 3. Compose a message

At the top of the page you've created, you can type a message in the text box. In gray it now says "What are you doing?". Do not post the message yet.

Now you can also add a photo or video by clicking the "Add Photos/Videos" link above the text box. Do this before scheduling the message

Step 4. Select "Schedule Message" from the menu

After typing your message, click on the arrow next to "Post". Click on "Schedule Message" in the menu.

Step 5. Choose a date and time

In the window that opens you can choose a date from the calendar (click on the calendar icon to open the calendar). Select the time (to the minute) in the box to the right by clicking on the time and using the arrows on your keyboard.

  • You must leave your message at least 10 minutes in the future plan. And the maximum is 6 months in advance.
  • All times are based on the time zone you are in.

Step 6. Click the "Schedule" button

The message will now be posted on the date and time you specified. Your Page's timeline now shows "1 scheduled post".

  • If you want to make changes, you can click "View Post" after clicking "1 Scheduled Post". You can now edit, publish, delete or change the schedule.
  • You can also do this by clicking "Posts" at the top of the page and then clicking "Scheduled Posts" in the left column.

Method 2 of 3: Mobile

Step 1. Download the "Page Manager" app for your device

The Facebook mobile app doesn't allow you to schedule posts (including from a mobile browser). For this you need a separate app called "Facebook Page Manager". This app is made by Facebook and available for free from the various App Stores.

Step #2. Sign in to your Facebook account from the app

If your Facebook account is already synced to your mobile device, you should see an option that says "Continue as [your name]". Click to continue. If you don't see the option, you'll need to log in manually with your email address and password.

    the instructions we provide here are based on the Android version of the app. The iOS version is almost the same, but there may be minor differences.

Step #3. Open your Facebook page

When you log in, you should automatically see your first group page. If not, you must select this page from the list of groups. You can also find your groups by tapping the blue menu button in the top right corner, here you can select your group.

Step 4. Tap "Click here to start a message"

It's the round blue button at the bottom of the screen. Select Text, Photo, Video, or Event from the list of options. use your keyboard to type a message. Do not post the message yet.

Step 5. Tap "Schedule" from the options of the Places menu

Click the menu button at the bottom right of the message window. Select "Schedule" from the list of options. Choose a date and time in the window that opens. Select the date, hour and minutes by scrolling in the different columns.

Step 6. Tap the blue "Schedule" button to finish

If you go back to your post you will see that the "Post" button has been replaced by the "Schedule" button. Below the text in your message you will see the date and time your message is scheduled for, the clock icon is now blue. Tap "Post" to finish.

Step 7. Edit your scheduled messages from the "More" menu

You can always use the Pages Manager app to edit or delete scheduled posts. Go to the home screen of the app and click on the "More" tab at the top (on the right side of the globe). On the next page, click on "scheduled posts". Locate the box of the scheduled post you want to edit, click the arrow in the top right corner of the box and use the menu to edit your post.

Step 1. Choose and download a program to schedule messages

You can't schedule personal messages from the Facebook page or app, but you can with third-party programs and apps. There are many excellent free options available. Here are some options:

  • Hootsuite (Note: the steps in this section cover this app)
  • Postcron

Step 2. Go to the HootSuite website and create an account

In this section, we'll show you how to use HootSuite, one of the recommended options above. Start by visiting the HootSuite website here. Click the blue Facebook button to sign up. HootSuite uses the same information from your Facebook account to register you.

Step 3. Select a social network

When you log in to HootSuite for the first time, you can click the "Add Social Network" button. Click the "Connect with Facebook" button at the bottom of the window that opens. Click "Okay" three times in a row to connect to Facebook (your profile, your pages and your groups in turn). You need to do this in order to schedule posts on both your Facebook profile and your Facebook pages.

When you're done, click the green "Continue" button to continue. Then click on "Done Adding Social Networks" to go to the dashboard

Step 4. Compose your message

Choose whether you want to read the "tutorial". When you're done with that, click the "Compose Message" box at the top of the main HootSuite screen, where you can type your message. Do not post your message yet.

Step 5. Click on the calendar

Below your message, you'll see a small calendar icon. Click to access the schedule menu. Select the desired date and time.

You can also choose to have the message sent to your email account when it is posted

Step 6. Schedule your message

Click the "Schedule" button at the bottom of the window to confirm.

Step 7. Edit your scheduled messages by clicking on the paper airplane

This icon can be found on the left side of the screen in the vertical menu. Clicking on it will take you to the "Publisher" page, where you can see all your scheduled posts.

On this page you can filter your scheduled posts by profile and you can edit or delete your posts

Tips

  • Many users find that scheduling posts at regular intervals will help you gain more followers, especially during hours when a lot of people are on Facebook. You can use the "Auto-schedule" option in HootSuite to maximize the impact of your posts.
  • With the above methods you can add links, photos and videos as usual. But you can't schedule photo albums or events.
