Friends are at the heart of Facebook. The more friends you have, the more interaction is possible with people and the more different views and thoughts are shared with you. Facebook has simplified the process of adding friends, now it's a lot easier. Read this article to find out how you can easily increase your number of friends.
Method 1 of 2: Part 1: Sending a friend request
Step 1. Find the person you want to add
Use the search box at the top of the page to find someone by name or email address. Click on the result to see the found person's timeline.
You also get to someone's timeline by clicking on a name in a post
Step 2. See who you know someone from
When you visit someone's timeline you can see which friends you have in common. This can be helpful if you're not sure where you know someone from.
Step 3. Click the "Add Friend" button next to a name to send him or her a friend request
There's another place you can do this: with the green button at the top of the timeline.
If you have pressed the "Add Friend" button, the button will change to the message "Friend request sent". If you click on this you will get a number of options, such as canceling the friend request or friend suggestions for your new friend
Step 4. Wait for the person to accept you as a friend
Have fun with your new friend!
Method 2 of 2: Part 2: Accepting a friend request
Step 1. Receive a friend request
Depending on the settings on Facebook, you will either receive an email when someone makes a friend request or you will see it in the notification area on your Facebook page. A red icon will appear near the friends button at the top of the page.
Step 2. Click "Confirm" to accept the request
After this, the button changes to a menu, where you have the choice to place the new friend in a certain list, to choose which updates you want to receive, or to remove the friend from your friends list.
