This article will teach you how to make events on Facebook appear in your Apple Calendar (formerly known as iCal) automatically. You need a macOS computer to register for your events, because it is no longer possible to synchronize a calendar on Facebook with a phone, tablet or with a PC running on Windows.

Steps

Sync Facebook Events to iCal Step 1

Step #1. Open Facebook in an internet browser on your Mac

You can use Chrome, Safari or any browser.

  • You must use a Mac to subscribe to a calendar, and this includes your calendar on Facebook with Upcoming Events. You can't do this on a phone, tablet, or PC that uses iCloud.com.
  • Follow the onscreen guidelines to log in to Facebook, if you're not already logged in.

Step #2. Click on Events

It's under the "Explore" heading in the left column of your News Feed. This will open the "Events" page. Your upcoming events are at the top of this page.

You will not see this link if you are not currently looking at your News Feed. Click the blue and white "f" in a square in the top left corner of the page to access your News Feed from anywhere on Facebook

Step #3. Scroll down and click on Upcoming Events

It's in a white box, at the very bottom right corner of the page. A pop-up window will appear asking if you allow Facebook to open the Calendar.

The other link in this section, "Birthdays," is a separate calendar that you can also add to your Apple Calendar. If you only want to add birthdays from Facebook, you'll need to choose "Birthdays" instead (or repeat these steps for birthdays after you're done with events)

Step #4. In the popup, click Allow

This will open your Mac's Calendar app. This may also cause another pop-up window asking you to subscribe. If you see the "Subscribe" option, continue to the next step. If not, your calendars should already be synced.

Depending on your settings, you may need to manually select your Apple Calendar

Step 5. Click Subscribe

A dialog box with 'Info' will appear.

Sync Facebook Events to iCal Step 6

Step 6. Select iCloud from the 'Location' menu

This is pretty much in the middle. This ensures that your events remain available no matter where you open your Calendar (including on your iPhone and/or iPad).

To choose how often your events are synced, you need to select the time option from the Auto Refresh menu

Step 7. Click OK

Your events on Facebook will now sync with your Apple Calendar. They remain available on all devices that use your Apple ID, including your iPhone, iPad, or via iCloud.com on any computer.
