Method 1 of 4: Using iCloud
Step 1. Go to https://www.icloud.com/ in a web browser
You can access your iCloud account from any modern browser, including Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer.
Step 2. Enter your Apple ID email address and password
This is the information you need to log in to the App Store.
If you don't have an Apple ID, create one first
Step 3. Click
This is a green app with white bars on it.
Step 4. Open your Numbers document
If this is in iCloud, it will appear on the Numbers page.
If you need to upload the document from your computer, click on the green gear icon, click on 'Upload spreadsheet', and select your Numbers document
Step 5. Click on the gear
You can see this at the top right of the document page.
Step 6. Click Download Copy
This is the top option in the drop-down menu.
Step 7. Click on Excel
This can be found in the top right corner of the Download a copy window. You will now be asked if you want to download the.xls version of the Numbers file to your computer.
Method 2 of 4: On a Mac
Step #1. Make sure your Numbers document is open
You should see the "Numbers" heading in the top-left corner of the Mac menu.
Step 2. Click on File
You'll find this at the top left of your Mac's screen. A drop-down menu is displayed.
Step 3. Select Export to
You'll find this option in the middle of the file menu. Select it to open a submenu.

This can be found in the 'Export to' menu.
Step 5. Click Next

Step 8. Click on Export
This can be found in the lower right corner of the window. This saves the Numbers document as an Excel document. You can then open the document on any computer with Excel by double clicking on it.
Method 3 of 4: In Windows
Step 1. Go to the CloudConvert website
The URL is https://cloudconvert.com/numbers-to-xlsx. While Windows itself has no way of turning a Numbers document into an Excel document, you can use CloudConvert's services to do this conversion.
Step 2. Click Select Files
You can find this button at the top of the webpage. A file explorer will appear.
Step 3. Select the Numbers file
The File Explorer will probably open your Desktop folder, so if the Numbers file isn't there, you'll first need to navigate to the file's location from the sidebar on the left.
Step #4. Click Open
This will upload the Numbers file to the CloudConvert website.
Step 5. Click on choose format
You can find this at the top of the page. A drop-down menu will open.
The 'select format' menu may already list '.xls' or '.xlsx', in which case you can skip the next two steps
Step 6. Select Spreadsheet
This is located at the bottom of the file explorer.
Step 7. Click on xls or xlsx.
XLS is an older file format of Excel, while XLSX documents are the new format of Excel.
Step 8. Click Start Conversion
It's the red button at the bottom right of the page. This will convert the Numbers document to the selected Excel format.
Step 9. Click Download
This green button is located at the top right of the web page. This will download the converted document in Excel format.
You can double-click the converted Excel document to open it in Excel, if you have Excel installed on your computer
Method 4 of 4: Using an iPhone
Step #1. Open Numbers
This is the green app with white bars on it.
Step 2. Select a document to open
You may need to tap the "Back" button at the top left of the screen first if Numbers opens an existing document.
Step #3. Tap on…
You will find this button at the top right of the screen.
Step #4. Tap on Send Copy
This option is near the top of the screen.
Step 5. Tap on Excel
You can find this option at the bottom left of this page.
Step 6. Tap on Mail
You'll see the mail icon, which looks like a white envelope on a light blue background, in the top row of the pop-up menu at the bottom of the screen.
Step 7. Enter your email address
This will appear in the 'To' field at the top of the screen.
Step 8. Tap Send
You will find this option at the top right of the screen. The Numbers document will now be sent to your email inbox in.xls format, from where you can download it to a computer with Excel installed.
- If you have a cloud option (e.g. Google Drive or iCloud Drive) available on your iPhone or iPad, you can select it from the pop-up menu where you will find "Mail". Uploading your Excel document to a cloud service gives you the option to download it from the cloud, instead of using an email.
- Newer versions of Excel documents are saved as.xlsx, rather than.xls.
