In this article you can read how to close apps on Android phone. Closing an app properly prevents the app from continuing to run in the background. That way you can ensure that your battery lasts longer and that your smartphone gets faster. You can close most apps using the Overview function as well as via the Settings of your Android phone. You can also use the Developer Options so that annoying apps don't continue to bother you.

Steps

Method 1 of 3: Using the summary feature

Close Apps on Android Step 1

Step #1. Locate the Overview button

You can often recognize this button by an icon in the form of a simple square or an icon that looks like two rectangles that are placed on top of each other. Usually it's at the bottom of the screen or to the right of the Back button.

  • On some Android phones, the Overview button is a real, physical button on the front of the phone.
  • On some smartphones, for example on Samsungs, the Overview button is usually to the left of the Back button.
