How to Lock the Gallery on a Samsung Galaxy (with Pictures)

This wikiHow teaches you how to protect photos on your Samsung Galaxy with a pattern, PIN, or password.

Steps

Part 1 of 2: Creating a locked folder

Step #1. Open your Galaxy's settings

To do this, open the Notifications bar and tap the gear icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Step #2. Scroll down and tap on Lock screen and security

Step #3. Tap on Secure Folder

Step #4. Tap NEXT to continue

Step 5. Tap on Start

Now you can start setting up your new locked folder.

Step 6. Sign in to your Samsung account

After logging in, you'll see a tutorial explaining what the feature can do.

Step 7. Select a lock type and tap Next

Choose PIN to set a 4-digit number code, Cartridge to draw a pattern with your finger, password to set an alphanumeric password, Fingerprint to use your Galaxy's fingerprint reader, or Iris to scan your eye (if supported).

Step 8. Create your PIN, pattern or other locking option

You will need to repeat your entry a second time to confirm it is correct.

Step 9. Tap OK

Your new secure folder will appear on the screen. Now it's time to protect your photos by adding them to this new secure folder.

Part 2 of 2: Adding photos to the locked folder

Step #1. Press the home button

It's the button at the bottom center of the screen. This will return you to the home screen.

Step #2. Open the Gallery app

You should find it in the app drawer or on the home screen.

Step #3. Tap on the Albums tab

This will bring up a list of photo folders on your Galaxy.

Step #4. Tap and hold a folder you want to protect

This selects the folder.

• If you only want to protect an individual photo, tap the tab Pictures at the top of the screen, then press and hold the photo.

Step 5. Tap on ⁝

It's in the top right corner.

Step 6. Tap Move to Secure Folder

You will be prompted to enter your security information.

Step 7. Enter your PIN, pattern or other locking method

Once your security info is verified, the selected album or photo will be moved to the folder.

Step 8. Open the Secure Folders app to view your protected files

You can find it in the app drawer. After the launch, you will need to enter your security code to view the files in it. No one can access these photos unless they have your PIN, password, or other credentials.
