The BlackBerry® is a popular smartphone with which you can do a lot. However, sometimes there is a technical problem and not everything works as it should. If nothing else seems to work, you can choose to reset the BlackBerry®. Depending on the problem, you can choose a soft or a hard reset.
Method 1 of 2: BlackBerry® hard reset
Step 1. Do not turn off your BlackBerry®
Step 2. Open the back of the BlackBerry®
You have to remove the battery from the phone.
Step 3. Wait for 30 seconds and then put the battery back in
Step 4. Close the lid
Turn the BlackBerry® back on, everything should now be back to normal.
Method 2 of 2: BlackBerry® soft reset
Step 1. Restart the BlackBerry® with a soft reset
This method requires you to leave the phone on.
Step 2. Hold down the "Alt" key and the right "Shift" key
Step 3. Now press "Backspace/Delete" while holding the other two keys
Step 4. Wait for the BlackBerry® to reset
The screen will turn off when this happens. It will take a few minutes for everything to boot up again.
Step 5. Release the keys when the screen turns off
- First check the user manual, because the method may differ per BlackBerry®. Sometimes you can also ask the carrier if they do a "master reset" or a "factory reset", then the phone will go back to factory settings.
- You don't erase data with a soft or hard reset. This is only done by a "master reset" or a "factory reset".
- The keyboard layout is not the same on all BlackBerries. Please check the user manual first.
