Siri is Apple's personal digital assistant that allows you to control most functions of your iOS phone through voice commands. You can look up things online, send and receive messages, plan your route and much more. To use Siri, you must have a suitable phone and enable the assistant. Start at step 1 to learn how to do this.


Method 1 of 2: Enable Siri

Step #1. Open Settings

You can do this by tapping the Settings icon on your home screen. Siri is usually enabled by default, but if it isn't, you can follow the steps below to do so.

Step 2. Open the Siri menu

You can do this by pressing General and then opening Siri.

The iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad, iPad 2, and the iPod Touch 1st through 4th generation do not support Siri. If you still want to install Siri on these devices, you will have to crack the program

Step #3. Enable Siri

Press the button until it turns green (iOS 7) or blue (iOS 6) to enable Siri.

Step 4. Adjust the settings

Once Siri is enabled, you can change the settings in the menu that appears below the button. Here you can set the language, voice and voice feedback and choose how Siri will address you.

Voice feedback determines when Siri responds to your requests. You can choose between Always or Only Handsfree (Headset)

Method 2 of 2: Activate Siri

Step #1. Press and hold the home button

This will activate Siri. The device will briefly vibrate and make a sound to indicate that Siri is activated.

Step 2. Give a command

You can talk to Siri in a normal tone. For example, ask a question or give a command and Siri will try to interpret it and take action if necessary.

Siri is able to recognize a huge amount of questions and commands and this is increasing with each iOS update. Below are some of the most commonly used applications, but there are many more

Step #3. Navigate your device with Siri

Siri can quickly open an app, check your messages or put on music for you, send an email and much more. Experiment with different questions and assignments.

  • To open an app, simply say Open App Name"
  • To set up a song, say "Play song, artist, album, genre"
  • To find the nearest sushi restaurant, say Find sushi nearby.

Step #4. Use Siri to look up things online

Start your assignment with Search online or Google so that you can quickly look up all kinds of things. The results are then displayed as a normal list.

You can also search for images of a particular topic by saying Find images of ---"

Step 5. Use Siri to change device settings

You can easily find settings with Siri that you would normally have to search for some time. This can make finding certain features a lot easier.

  • To change the text size on your device, say Change text size.
  • Turn WiFi on or off by saying "Turn WiFi on/off".
  • Adjust the screen brightness by saying Increase/decrease brightness.

Step 6. Keep experimenting
