Resetting your Samsung Galaxy S3 can be useful if you are experiencing problems with your device or if you want to restore the device to factory settings. You erase all personal data and settings when you perform a reset. Follow one of the three methods below to reset your Samsung Galaxy S3.
Method 1 of 3: Reset from Settings menu
Step 1. Tap "Menu" on the home screen
Step 2. Tap on "Settings"
Step 3. Select "Backup and Restore"
By default, all your data is backed up for later restoring. If you don't want that, you can click the checkboxes next to the corresponding options to uncheck them
Step 4. Tap on "Restore Default Data"
Step 5. Tap on "Reset Device"
If the screen lock is activated on your device, you will now need to enter your password or PIN
Step 6. Select "Remove Everything"
Your phone will now perform a reset where all data will be erased, then the device will reboot.
Method 2 of 3: Resetting with physical buttons
Step 1. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S3
Step 2. Simultaneously press the power button, the home button, and the "volume up" button
Step 3. Wait for the phone to vibrate and then release the power button
Step 4. Wait for the "Android System Recovery" screen to appear and then release the home button and the "volume up" button as well
Step 5. Press the "volume down" button until "Wipe data / factory reset" is selected
Step 6. Press the power button to select the option
Step 7. Press "Volume Down" until "Delete all user data" is selected
Step 8. Press the Power button again to select the option
Your phone will now perform a reset, you will see "Reboot system now" when the process is complete.
Step 9. Press the Power button to select this option and complete the process
Method 3 of 3: Keyboard
Step 1. Open the keyboard on your Samsung Galaxy S3, usually this option is represented by a green handset icon
Step 2. Type *2767*3855#
Now your device will reset and erase all personal data and settings.
