The iPhone is Apple's well-known variant of the smartphone. It is a mobile phone, a media player, a photo and video camera and an internet and e-mail device in one. There are a number of (unofficial) ways to list, block or screen unwanted phone numbers. Read this article to learn how to do that.

Steps

Method 1 of 4: On an iPhone with iOS 7

Step 1. If you have iOS 7 installed on your iPhone, you can block numbers very easily

Step 2. Open your log

Tap the phone call icon and select "Recent" at the bottom of the window. This will open the log.

Step 3. Find the number you want to block

Scroll down and up to find the number.

Step 4. Tap the "i" next to the phone number to open the info window and select "Block this caller" at the bottom of the window

  • With this you block calls, text messages, Facetime messages, everything from this caller. You won't even notice if they called you.
  • You can also block from your text message log or from FaceTime.
  • Another way to block is to go to the "Blocked" list in the settings. Tap "Settings" and then "Phone". Here you will find the "Blocked" list where you can add or remove songs.

Method 2 of 4: iOS 6 and earlier - Contact your carrier

Step 2. Contact your carrier and submit a request to block a number

This is the only way to block a number on an iPhone with iOS 6 or older without a "Jailbreak".

Most carriers allow you to have many numbers blocked if you want to

Method 3 of 4: iOS 6 and earlier - Screen your incoming calls

Step 4. Set the ringtone to "None"

Now you won't notice when you get a call from that contact. Of course, it's not the same as actually blocking, but it's better than nothing if you have iOS 6 or older.

  • You can also change the contact's name to "Do not answer 1". If you receive a call from that person, you will see on your screen that you do not have to answer. You can then create "Do not answer 2", "Do not answer 2" etc. for other contacts.

Method 4 of 4: iOS 6 and earlier - Use an app to block incoming calls

Block a Number on the iPhone Step 7

Step 1. Jailbreak your iPhone

In order to use an app that blocks numbers, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone first, as this software is not officially approved by Apple. Jailbreaking is not without risk. If you don't want to take this risk on a phone with iOS 6 or older, it's better to use method 2 or 3.
