You can use albums to organize your photos in Google Photos. Albums are like storage boxes for your photos - you can sort them into albums based on the criteria you choose. You will also have the chance to add, remove or edit photos from an album whenever you want. Learn how to create and manage albums in Google Photos and how to rearrange the order of your photos outside the albums.
Steps
Method 1 of 6: Creating an album

Step 1. Open the Google Photos app or go to
Try organizing your photos and videos into albums to organize them. You can do this in the Google Photos app or in a browser.

Step 2. Create a new album
The steps differ slightly depending on your device:
- Mobile: Press the ⁝ icon and select 'Album'. Now you will be presented with a list of all your photos, all with circles in the top left corners.
- Internet: Click the + symbol next to the search bar and select 'Album'. Your photos will appear, all with circles in the top left corners.

Step 3. Click or press the circle to select a photo
This will add the photo to the album. You can select as many photos as you want.

Step 4. Press 'Create' (mobile) or click 'Next' (Internet)
Now you will see a text field with 'Untitled' above the contents of the album.

Step 5. Enter a name for the album
You can name the album whatever you want. No one will see the name unless you use Google Photos' sharing tools to share things with others.

Step 6. Click or press the text tool (T) to enter a description
It's in the top right corner of the screen. Just like an album title, no one but you will see the description.

Step 7. Click or press the check mark to save
Your album is now live.
To see a list of all your albums the next time you sign in, click or press the Albums icon (at the bottom of the app and on the left of the website). This icon resembles a square with a bookmark at the top right
Method 2 of 6: Add photos to an album

Step #1. Open Google Photos
You can use this method for the app on a mobile device as well as for

Step 2. Click or press the Albums icon
It's at the bottom of the mobile app or on the left of the website. The icon resembles a square with a bookmark at the top right. Once you click or tap on it, a list of your albums will appear.
If you don't see any albums, you will have to create an album first

Step 3. Click or press an album to edit it
The current contents of the album will be displayed.

Step 4. Click or press the Add Photo icon
It's at the top right of your screen and looks like a photo with a plus sign. Now you will see a list of your photos (outside the album), all with a circle in the top left corner.

Step 5. Click or press to select a photo
When you select a photo, the circle in the top left corner will turn into a checkmark. All photos with check marks will be added to the album. You can select as many photos as you want.

Step 6. Click or press 'Done' at the top right corner of the screen
The photos you selected will now be added to your album.
Method 3 of 6: Rearrange photos in an album

Step 2. Click or press the Albums icon
It's at the bottom of the mobile app or on the left of the website. This icon resembles a square with a bookmark at the top right. Once clicked or pressed, a list of your albums will appear.

Step 3. Select an album to manage
The contents of the album will appear.

Step 4. Click or press the ⁝ menu in the top right corner of both the website and mobile app

Step 5. Select 'Edit Album'
The album is now in edit mode and you can tell by the edit icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 6. Drag a photo to move it
You can drag the photo as far up or down as you want. When you've found a good place for your photo, release the mouse (or your finger on the screen) to place it there.
You can drag as many photos as you want, but you will have to drag them all individually

Step 7. Click or press the check mark to save
The photos are now in the order you chose.
Method 4 of 6: Remove photos from an album

Step #1. Open Google Photos
You can remove a photo from the album (without deleting it) using the mobile app or at

Step 2. Click or press the Albums icon
It's at the bottom of the mobile app or on the left of the website. This icon resembles a square with a bookmark at the top right. Once clicked or pressed, a list of your albums will appear.

Step 3. Select an album to manage
The contents of the album will appear.

Step 4. Click on the ⁝ menu in the top right corner of both the website and mobile app

Step 5. Select 'Edit Album'
The album is now in edit mode and you can tell by the edit icon in the top right corner of the screen. You will also see a small X in the top left corner of each photo.

Step 6. Click or press the X to delete a photo
The photo will be removed from the album. You will still be able to find the photo in your main photo list when you open Google Photos.
Method 5 of 6: Delete an album

Step 1. Open the Google Photos app or go to
If you no longer need an album, you can safely delete it without deleting the photos it contains. Start by launching the app on your mobile device or by visiting Google Photos in a browser.

Step 2. Click or press the Albums icon
It's at the bottom of the mobile app or on the left of the website. This icon resembles a square with a bookmark at the top right. Once clicked or pressed, a list of your albums will appear.

Step 3. Select an album to manage
The contents of the album will appear.

Step 4. Click or press the ⁝ menu in the top right corner of both the website and mobile app

Step 5. Select 'Delete Album'
A confirmation pop-up will appear notifying you that deleting an album cannot be undone. Remember, the photos in the album won't be deleted - just the folder they're in.

Step 6. Click or press 'Remove'
The album will now be removed from the album list.
Method 6 of 6: Rearrange photos by date and time

Step 1. Open http://photos.google.com in a browser
When you access your photos, you will definitely notice that they are arranged in date and time order. You can change the order of these photos by changing the dates and times. You will need to have access to a computer for this.

- If you're not already signed in to Google Photos, do so now.

Step 2. Hover the mouse cursor over a photo
A selection circle will appear in the top left corner of the photo.

Step 3. Click the circle to select the photo
A check mark will fill the circle.
You can select multiple photos to change the date and time. Just click on the circles of all the photos you want to edit

Step 4. Click on the ⁝ icon on the top right corner
A short menu will appear.

Step 5. Select 'Edit date & time'
Now you will see the 'Edit date & time' pop-up. The current date and time information of the photo can be seen in this window.

Step 6. Replace the current date and time with the new one
To move a photo to the top of the list, make sure the date is later than the current one. To move the photo down, you must choose an earlier date.

Step 7. Click on 'Save
Your photos will now be captured based on the edited dates and times.
Tips
- To share an album with others, open the album and click or press the Share icon – the < symbol with three dots. You can share via SMS, social media, email, or choose another method.
- Try tagging faces in Google Photos so you can easily find friends and family in your library.
