There are several benefits to playing Minecraft offline, such as being able to play without an internet connection, avoiding installing updates, reducing lag time, and being able to play without logging into Minecraft servers. You can play Minecraft offline by simply selecting "Play Offline" in the Minecraft Launcher, or by modifying your Minecraft server details.
Method 1 of 2: Selecting the 'Offline' feature
Step 1. Open the Minecraft Launcher and click 'Login' in the lower right corner
The username and password fields must be left blank.
Step 2. Select 'Play Offline'
Minecraft will start and you can now play offline.
Method 2 of 2: Adjusting Minecraft Server data
Step 1. Go to the 'Minecraft Server' folder on your computer and open it
This method only works if you host your own Minecraft server, or have access to a friend's Minecraft server.
Step 2. Uncheck the box next to the Minecraft server name
This will temporarily disable the Minecraft server.
Step 3. Open the 'server.properties' file
The properties open in your computer's default word processing program, such as Notepad or Text Editor.
Step 4. Find 'online-mode=true' in the list of properties
Step 5. Change the value from 'true' to 'false'
The value is now 'online-mode=false' which means that online mode is disabled on your server.
Step 6. Select the option to save changes and then close Notepad or Text Editor
Step 7. Replace the checkmark next to the Minecraft server name and then double click the server to restart it
Step 8. Open Minecraft Launcher and click 'Login' in the bottom right corner
Step 9. Select 'Play Offline' and select your Minecraft server
The game will start and you will now play offline.
- Playing Minecraft offline may prevent you from using custom skins and installing the latest updates from Mojang, including those that fix bugs and errors. Keep this factor in mind before you decide to play Minecraft offline.
- Running your Minecraft server in offline mode can increase the risk of security issues, as offline mode allows any user to join and play on your server, if you are connected to the internet. To keep everything as safe as possible, before putting the server in offline mode, please get off the internet, and don't turn online mode back on until you're done with your Minecraft session.
