If you're new to Minecraft, you probably want to keep those nasty mobs out. Then it's time for a door! You can open and close a wooden door yourself, but not mobs. Keep those bullying things out of your home once and for all.
Recipe

Steps
Method 1 of 3: Making a wooden door

Step 1. Make a wooden door with 6 planks
Create planks by placing wood in the work menu.
If you don't have a workbench, place 4 planks in a square to make a workbench

Step 2. Place 6 wooden planks, 3 high and 2 wide, in your work menu
This will make a wooden door. You can change the look of the doors depending on the type of wood you use. You can make an oak, spruce, birch, or hardwood door.
Note that doors other than oak and iron can only be made under version 1.8 or higher
Method 2 of 3: Making an iron door

Step 1. Make an iron door with 6 iron bars
To get iron bars you have two options:
- Making: Make an iron rod from a block of iron.
- Smelting: melts iron ingots from a block of iron ore.

Step 2. Arrange the iron bars in the same way as the wooden planks, filling two vertical columns with them
You now have an iron door.
Method 3 of 3: Placing the door and other details

Step 1. Place the door on the side of the block where you want it
If you're on the outside of a block, the door - you guessed it - will appear on the outside of the wall. If you are on the inside of the block, the door will be placed on the inside of the wall.

Step 2. Place two doors side by side to create double doors
Two adjacent doors will automatically position themselves in such a way that they become double doors.

Step 3. Use pressure plates to open doors automatically
A pressure plate placed on one side of a door will open and close it automatically as you go through. If you are concerned about mobs, place the pressure plates on the inside of the door to keep mobs out.
Wooden doors can also easily be opened and closed by right-clicking on them

Step 4. Note:
Iron doors cannot be opened by right clicking on them. It is impossible to open an iron door without a mechanism. Use this knowledge to keep mobs and other griefers out of your private environment.
- Lead a redstone cartridge to your door and use a lever to open the door.
- Attach a pressure plate to the inner hinge of the iron door to open it.
Tips
- Iron doors can be made in the same way as iron bars. While iron doors can't be broken open by a zombie (regardless of level), you can't just open them yourself either. It takes Redstone power to open them.
- Wooden doors can also be opened with redstone power, but it is not necessary. This means you can use buttons, levers or pressure plates to open them.
Warnings
- Zombies can break doors when the difficulty is set to hard. When you hear a knocking sound, approach it and kill the zombie.
- If you are using a pressure plate with a door, make sure the pressure plate is on the inside of the door, as mobs can activate a pressure plate on the outside, causing the door to open.
