One of the most popular ways to customize Minecraft is by changing the skin of a player's character. To change your skin without having to jailbreak or use a block launcher, you need at least Minecraft PE 0.11.0.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: iOS devices
Step 1. Download Minecraft PE 0.11.x+
Step 2. Download an app for changing your skin in Minecraft PE:
itunes.apple.com/us/app/skinswitch-for-minecraft/id524911308?mt=8
Step 3. Open the app and find your favorite skin, and click "Wear Skin"
Step 4. That's All
It's that simple when there's built-in support for skins.
Method 2 of 2: Android devices
Step 1. Make sure you have Minecraft PE 0.11.x+
Step 2. Search "Skins for Minecraft" on Google Play, then click an app
Step 3. Install and launch the app
Step 4. Click on the head of the skin you like best
Step 5. Click the "Download Skin" button
