Prevent programs from opening automatically when your Mac starts up: 6 steps (with pictures)

In this article, you'll learn how to prevent programs from opening automatically when you start up your Mac.

Steps

Step 1. Open Apple menu

Click the black Apple icon in the top left corner of your screen.

Step 2. Click on System Preferences…

Step #3. Click Users & Groups

This is quite far down the window.

Step 4. Click on the Login tab

Step 5. Click on the programs you don't want to open on startup

These programs are listed in the panel on the right side of the window.

Step 6. Click ➖ under the list of programs

The program will now be uninstalled and will not open automatically the next time you start up your Mac.
