The reason doesn't really matter, but you might want to change your appearance. If you're not happy with your appearance and you want something different, follow these steps and you'll feel like new again!

Part 1 of 3: Hygiene

Change Your Appearance Step 1

Step 1. Make sure you are clean

If people think you stink because you haven't washed, or if you have bits of spinach stuck in your teeth, it doesn't matter what you look like. Good body care means washing, brushing and flossing every day.

  • Make sure you brush your teeth at least twice a day. Don't forget to brush your tongue too so you don't get bad breath. Floss every night.
  • Wash your hair and put conditioner in it. Your scalp produces good oils for your hair, so don't wash your hair every day. But the fat should not accumulate either. If you have very oily hair, wash it six out of seven days.

Step 2. Pamper your skin

Your skin is an important part of your body. Be kind to it and your skin will glow.

  • Wash your face in the morning and evening. If you have pimples, use a light lotion in the evening.
  • Apply a face mask once a week. If that's too expensive for you, don't skip this step. Half a mashed banana with a few drops of tea tree oil is an excellent and inexpensive alternative.
  • Apply hand cream regularly and stay well hydrated. Always moisturize your skin after you wash or get out of the shower.
  • Keep your nails neatly filed and, if necessary, varnished. Have them done at a nail salon if you find it difficult yourself.

Part 2 of 3: Hair and makeup

Change Your Appearance Step 3

Step 1. Get a new haircut

This is the first real step towards the new you. Do not be afraid! First, look in magazines and on the internet for nice hairstyles. Take a picture with you to the hairdresser so you can be sure it will be the way you want it.

  • Highlights, layers, slanted ends, short hair or bangs can all be beautiful. Contrary to popular belief, wearing your hair one length is not dull; but it doesn't suit everyone.
  • If you go for a emo/punkstyle, consider cutting your hair short, getting bangs, or dyeing it a bright color like pink or purple.
  • Are you more the type for a beach/surfstyle, think long, wavy hair with highlights.
  • if you prefer classic/decently If you want to be, think of side bangs and long hair that you can wear in a bun or braid.

Step 2. Take good care of your new haircut

Now that you have a beautiful haircut, you need to show it off! Style your hair every morning. Pay attention to what products you put in it and how often you curl or straighten it. Doing that too often will damage your hair and cause dead ends.

  • When you shower in the morning, put some care products in your hair and let it dry naturally. With natural hair you look beautiful and soft, and you seem more approachable.
  • Hair bands are all the rage. A black, white or brown headband goes with everything. You can also take a diadem made of thin iron wire, or one decorated with stones.
  • Are you in a hurry? Then light her up. That can also be very nice. A ponytail or bun is always good, and braids are in right now.

Step 3. Try on new makeup

Make-up is not necessary, but you may want to do a little make up. A little lip gloss makes your lips more beautiful. Unless your parents don't allow it, you can also use some concealer to hide pimples. If you can't wear makeup at all, take very good care of your skin. This will prevent you from getting pimples or spots.

  • Put your makeup in a nice bag and take it with you everywhere - in your school bag or backpack, depending on where you're going.
  • Consider buying natural blush. The right kind of blush looks like you're actually blushing a little, not like you've applied blush.
  • Buy an eyelash curler if you can. Curling your eyelashes is a great alternative to mascara; curling your lashes opens your eyes and makes them appear larger and more radiant.

Step 4. Wear makeup that matches your style

Again, the type of makeup you use will depend on the style you like. Here are some suggestions:

  • For an emo/punk style, consider dark eyeliner and dark mascara, plus a little red lip gloss. Do not use pale foundation. If you want to look emo you don't have to look like a corpse just yet!
  • Keep your makeup natural and minimal if you want a beach/surf style. A little bronzer, light mascara and a little dark eyeliner. You want to look like you came straight from the beach, right?
  • For a classic, clean look, consider red or sheer lipstick, mascara and white lines in the inner corners of the eyes, combined with three-tone eyeshadows that blend perfectly. That looks classic!
  • Practice, practice and more practice! Practice this with your friends. Take photos to determine what looks good and what doesn't. Remember not to use too much makeup.

Part 3 of 3: Wardrobe and accessories

Change Your Appearance Step 7

Step 1. Turn your wardrobe upside down

You'll probably have to go shopping to really change your look. But don't be afraid. When you're shopping, think about versatility: if you can put together a variety of outfits with one piece of clothing, you're doing it right. You don't have to buy a big pile of new clothes to change your look; you just have to start wearing your clothes differently.

  • Get a pair of jeans that fit well. You can also try jeggings, because they are comfortable and still look very nice.

    • If you are emo/punk, choose dark jeans. You can also make your old jeans look worn out.
    • Surfers choose lighter jeans, or pants with holes or rips. Also consider linen pants or capri.
    • For a classic style, you can take dark blue or black skinny jeans, without holes or rips.

Step 2. Top it off with the right shirt

Shirts and blouses are of course essential. Customize your tops to the style you want. Even if you don't have that much to spend, you can make some great changes with just a few new pieces of clothing.

  • Undershirts and tight T-shirts complete the surf/beach style. Buy a few singlets, for example with lace trims. Wear them under a T-shirt that you don't really like, it will become more fun when you see the lace coming out from underneath. Try wearing several layers on top of each other.
  • If you like to be neat, a blouse with a collar works very well. A slightly wider blouse (checkered or denim) looks great with tight jeans.
  • Think rock band T-shirts if you're going for the emo/punk/indie style. Look for faded shirts with a vintage feel. They don't have to be too big. Flatter your figure.

Step 3. Look for clothes in thrift stores

Beautiful clothes don't have to be expensive. But not all thrift stores are the same. If you buy second-hand clothes, make sure you don't see any tears, discoloration or other damage.

  • Look for designer clothes that have not been worn as often. It's best if you find a beautiful jacket or shirt that has hardly been worn, but costs next to nothing.
  • Head to thrift stores right after the holidays. People often receive items of clothing that they actually don't like as gifts, and then take them to a second-hand store. So now is the perfect time to go shopping there.

Step 4. Wear accessories

Jewelry is very important. You don't have to wear too much of it, but make sure you have some nice jewelry, because they complete your outfit. Keep it simple.

  • Try a round pendant with stones, or large round earrings. If you like a tougher look, you can also wear studs.
  • Silver jewelry is very beautiful. They are always in, inexpensive and go with everything.
  • If you go for neat, get a nice watch. A black or colored rubber bracelet works well if you want to be emo or punk.

Step 5. Make your feet beautiful

Shoes are also important. Shoes can complete or ruin your outfit, and they are the perfect accessories. Be careful what you put on your feet!

  • If you're smart or classic, wear a cute pair of flats, a pair of high heels, or a pair of tennis shoes. High sheepskin boots are beautiful for winter.
  • For the surf/beach style, try a pair of Keds, Uggs (winter only, of course!), flats and flip flops.
  • High Vans, black Converse or a pair of motorcycle boots go well with the emo/punk style.

  • A little perfume can be nice, but don't overdo it.
  • Be confident about the style you choose!
  • Try a whitening toothpaste and smile!
  • Be yourself and have confidence. People can see if you're nervous or not yourself.
  • Imagine someone who has the style you want, imitate him/her until it's perfect, then add your own details.
  • Invest in a real silver or gold necklace. You can wear this all the time, and eventually it will become your signature style.
  • Choose your clothes carefully.
  • Be yourself but also see what's in fashion.
  • Take care of your body and always take the medicine you need!
  • Don't change your appearance if you are insecure. First think about which style you like the most before changing everything, otherwise you will regret it!

  • Don't use too many appliances that get hot on your hair or your ends will split. If you do, use a spray that protects against the heat first.
  • Always put lip balm on your lips before going to bed to keep them from cracking.
  • Always remove your makeup before going to sleep.
  • Don't overdo it with makeup.
