This wikiHow teaches you how to take a screenshot of your HP computer's screen. Since all HP computers use Windows by default, use Windows methods for this.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using the keyboard in Windows 8 and 10

Step #1. Find the 'Print Screen' key
The 'Print Screen' key is located in the top right corner of the keyboard next to the delete-key.
- If your keyboard has a numeric keypad on the right side, you'll find the Prt Sckey to the left of the top row of keys in the numeric keypad.
- Note whether or not the 'Prt Sc' (or similar) text is at the top of the key or at the bottom of the key. If it is located at the bottom of the key under another text option, it may be necessary to include the fnkey to use.

Step 2. Find the 'Windows' key ⊞ Win
This key (with the Windows logo) is usually located in the lower right part of the keyboard.

Step #3. Look for the Fn key if necessary
If the text 'Prt Sc' is at the bottom of the key and below other text, then you must select the fn- use key to force your computer to recognize the 'Print Screen' function.
- Usually you find the fnkey at the bottom left of the keyboard.

Step 4. Make sure your screen shows what you want to see on the screenshot
Go to the page or program you want to take a screenshot of.

Step 5. Hold down the Windows key ⊞ Win
Make sure to do this in the next step as well.
If the text 'Prt Sc' is below another text on that key, make sure you also hold the 'Fn' key

Step 6. Hold down ⎙ PrtScr
You should only have to do this for a second.
Make sure to hold down the ⊞ Win key while doing this

Step 7. Release all keys when the screen dims briefly
This indicates that Windows has taken a screenshot of the contents of your screen.
- If the screen does not dim, try releasing the keys and pressing the Prt Scbutton. If this doesn't work either, keep the fn-key (if you haven't already), or let the fnbutton and try again if you did use it.

Step 8. View your screenshots
You can view your captured screenshots from the 'Pictures' folder by doing the following:
-
Open 'Explorer'
File_Explorer_Icon - Click on the map Pictures on the left side of the window.
- Double-click the 'Screenshots' or 'Screenshots' folder in the 'Pictures' window.
