If you accidentally left your key in your car, don't worry, you can easily open your car with the help of some steel wire. This method works best with older models because older cars used simpler locks rather than the electronic locks used today.
Steps
Step 1. Find a clothes hanger with wire in it
You have to remove this wire from a clothes hanger and straighten it. You can also use one of the umbrella's tensioners.
You can also buy a tool made especially for this purpose called a Slim Jim. A Slim Jim is a long piece of flexible metal with a hook on the end, also known as a lock pick. Because car thieves use this tool, the automotive industry has developed mechanisms to prevent cars from being stolen and Slim Jims no longer work on newer models
Step 2. Use wire cutters to cut the hooks from the bottom of a clothes hanger
Cut as little of the thread as possible because you want to keep as much thread as possible.
Step 3. Bend the wire and make it as straight as possible
It is important that the wire is as straight as possible because you want to be able to move the wire through the door.
Step 4. Make a small hook from the end of the wire so that you can manipulate the inside of the lock, and a small circle if you want to manipulate a vertical switch
Make sure the hook is large enough to allow the handle to move. When you make a circle, it should fit just over the lock so that the circle pulls the switch with it when the circle is pulled up.
Step 5. Pry open the car door slightly so that you can put an inflatable bag between the door frame and thus create a larger gap between door and window
If you can't find an inflatable bag, you can also use a rubber object (such as a doorstop). The advantage of rubber is that you do not scratch the car with it.
- Make sure you can squeeze the wire between the weatherstrips.
- Leave the item you crammed into the door while you perform the next step.
Step 6. Put the object you have chosen in the door and make sure that there is a small gap (about 1 cm) through which you lower the wire
Step 7. Insert the hook of the wire into the door first if you want to open the handle or through the top of the window if you want to move a vertical knob
While doing this, be careful not to scratch it.
Step 8. If you want to move the handle you have to move the wire against the handle and then move the handle with the hook of the wire
It is best to point the hook slightly downwards so that the hook touches the handle.
Step 9. If you want to move a knob or open a vertical lock, you have to move the wire from the top of the window to the knob
At a button you have to press down gently with the hook. With a vertical lock, you have to move the circle over the lock and then pull it until the lock opens by itself. It is important that the circle is just wide enough to fit over the top of the vertical lock so that you can open it by pulling the wire.
