To become famous, you usually have to do something to make yourself famous, from doing something remarkable to developing your talent. You can also help yourself by developing a personal brand. Then you need to market your ideas and brand so that people will recognize your name.
Steps
Part 1 of 3: Doing something to become famous

Step 1. Be unique
Uniqueness stands out in a crowd, especially when everyone is trying to follow the crowd. So try to be your own unique person, and do something unusual in any area.
- Take McKayla Maroney for example, although famous for gymnastics, she became even more famous for the striking frowning look she sometimes had. She allowed herself to be unique, instead of putting a smile on her face throughout the match.
- Another person who became famous in this way was Bobak Ferdowsi. As a member of the team that helped land a Mars rover, he was already a standout player in his field. But when people saw his mohawk in a live stream of the event, he became an online celebrity.

Step 2. Make a unique invention
Some people become famous for the things they invent. The best way to invent something is to start with a problem. What daily problem is bothering you or your family? What solution could you come up with to solve it? If you come up with a new solution to an old problem, you can easily become famous.
Take, for example, Mark Zuckerberg, famous for starting Facebook at a young age. He saw the need for an online social network based on college campuses (originally), and he worked to make it happen

Step 3. Do something for other people
Some people have become famous for their generosity. What is important here: it must be something that is unusual or cross-border.
For example, say you're raising money for a good cause by swimming in the Mississippi and having people donate for every mile you swim

Step 4. Try auditioning for a reality show
While some reality shows require special talents (cooking or singing, for example), others require very little talent. Check out some of the more recent reality shows to get an idea of what you might want, and check out their website where you can audition. Many people have become famous in reality TV shows.

Step 5. Break a world record
This method may take some time as you need to work on some talent or task. The easiest way to find out what you can do is to browse the Guinness Book of World Records. Find one you think you could break, then work on making it happen. When you eventually start trying to break the record, you'll probably need a Guinness official to check it.

Step 6. Show your talent
Of course, many people become famous for their talents in one particular field. If you have an innate talent, you can work on it from an early age. In fact, very talented children often become famous for a while because people are fascinated by such a young talent. If you're under 18, ask your parents if you can post videos of your performances on a site like YouTube -- you can then share them with your friends.
Part 2 of 3: Developing a personal brand

Step 1. Define what your brand is
That is, if you're building a brand, you have to decide what you want people to think when they hear your name. You don't have to fake it, but you do have to decide which aspects of yourself you're going to present to the public. In other words, you want some consistency.
An example of a YouTuber who has created a personal brand is Hannah Hart of My Drunk Kitchen. Her personal brand is built on a touch of humor and compassion as she encourages people to get involved in their communities

Step 2. Decide what you have to offer
When building your brand, you need to have something to offer the world. You know things, and you can use what you know. In other words, your brand can be about what you're an expert at, whether it's robots, cooking, or nail polish.
For example, some bloggers rely on their expertise to build their brand, such as Joy the Baker, who started a baking blog to share her love of baking with others. She has gained a following for her precision cooking, her imaginative recipes and her honest writing style

Step 3. Present yourself to the world
With all the social media platforms out there, it's easy to start sharing content with users. You can write blogs, tweet, make videos or take photos. Some people do all of the above. Basically you want to start showing what you know by sharing expert knowledge.
If you are serious about creating a personal brand, then you should consider creating your own website. That way, your fans have one place they can go to learn all about you

Step 4. Take the time to network
Being famous is an undertaking. That means you have to be constantly vigilant about putting yourself in the spotlight. The internet is networked by forging links with other content creators. In other words, you have to respond to what others post and share online to help you move forward.
You can also try techniques like blog tours, where you ask certain blogs (that are relevant to what you do) to host you as a guest. The host can interview you, or write a blog post as a guest

Step 5. Remove anything that doesn't fit your brand
View all your social media with a critical eye. What doesn't fit your supposed brand should be removed. You can also set up a Google Alert for your name to see what is being said about you.
For example, if you're trying to portray yourself as someone who cares about family, you might want to delete those photos of you at parties

Step 6. Censor your own posts
That is, don't post everything that comes along. Every time you want to post an update, blog post or a photo, think about whether it fits your brand or not.
For example, if you're trying to portray yourself as quirky and fun, serious posts about recent events won't fit your brand
Part 3 of 3: Marketing yourself or an idea

Step 1. Contact manufacturers
If you want to promote a book or album, you can try contacting the producers directly. Check the websites for the programs you think are a good fit, and find the email addresses of their producers. You can then submit your idea directly to the producer. If you are a good match, you may be able to participate in the program.
Don't try just one and then stop. You must be persistent. Keep trying producers of different shows

Step 2. Start small
Don't just rely on the big, national shows. Start with local television shows or local news. Once you prove you can handle television, bigger programs will be willing to take you in.
Shows are looking for people who are polite, interesting, and have something to say

Step 3. Search for similar brands
If you can find people who produce similar content but are more famous, try befriending them. By associating with other popular brands, your own brand can become more popular.
You will likely come across people who have similar brands just by reading other blogs, watching videos and engaging in social media. Once you've found other people like you, get started with their content, commenting on their posts and commenting on videos. You can also meet people at blog and vlog conferences

Step 4. Be interesting
That is, whatever you do, whatever you post on social media, it shouldn't be boring. It can be mundane in nature, like an update on your daily life, but it should contain a spark of who you are, something that makes it appealing to your readers.
