In this article, you'll learn how to watch YouTube videos without getting ads all the time. If you don't mind paying for it every month, you can get YouTube Premium to make sure the channels you've signed up for don't show ads anymore. You can also use a free extension called Adblock Plus, which allows you to block ads in YouTube across all web browsers. You can also use the Adblock Plus mobile app to ensure that you no longer see ads on an iPhone or a smartphone with Android. And you can also disable the ads within your own videos if you'd rather your audience see them.
Steps
Method 1 of 8: In Google Chrome
Step 1. Open
Google Chrome.
Click once or twice on the Google Chrome icon. It is that circle in the colors red, blue, green and yellow.
Step 2. Open the Adblock Plus extension page
This is the official page from where you can download Adblock Plus.
Step #3. Click Add to Chrome
It's the blue button at the top right of the page.
Step 4. When prompted, click Add extension
This is how you add Adblock Plus to your web browser (Google Chrome).
Step 5. Close the Adblock Plus tab once it opens
If the tab opens, that means you have installed Adblock Plus.
Step 6. Watch your videos on YouTube without ads
Now that you have installed Adblock Plus, you will no longer see advertisements when watching videos on YouTube.
Method 2 of 8: In Safari
Step #1. Open Safari
Click on the Safari icon, which is shaped like a blue compass. You'll find it in the Dock of your Mac.
Step 2. Open Adblock Plus download page
Visit the Adblock Plus download page at https://adblockplus.org/en/download in Safari.
Step #3. Click on Safari
It's the link under the "BLOCK ADS IN ALL BROWSERS" heading on the left side of the page.
Step 4. Open the extension file you downloaded
Click the "Downloads" arrow at the top right of the Safari window, and open the Adblock Plus extension by clicking its name.
Step 5. Follow the on-screen instructions
Since you downloaded the extension file from the Internet, your Mac may first ask you to confirm that you want to install Adblock Plus.

Step 6. Close the Adblock Plus tab if it is open
If this tab opens, you have successfully installed Adblock Plus.
Step 7. Restart Safari
To activate Adblock Plus you need to close Safari and open it again. Only then will Adblock Plus start blocking the advertising effectively. To close Safari, do the following:
- click on Safari at the top right of the screen.
- click on Leave Safari in the drop-down menu.
Step 8. Now watch videos on YouTube without advertising
Now that you have installed Adblock Plus, your videos on YouTube will no longer be interrupted by advertisements.
While videos within YouTube should now no longer be interrupted by advertising, the ads on certain other pages of YouTube may not be blocked completely
Method 3 of 8: On an iPhone
Step 1. Open the App Store
on your iPhone.
Tap the App Store icon. It looks like a white 'A' against a light blue background.
Step #2. Tap on Search
You'll find this button at the bottom right of the App Store screen.
Step #3. Tap on the search bar
You'll find this option at the top of the screen.
Step 4. Now try to find Adblock Plus
Type in adblock plus and then tap To search on the keyboard.
Step 5. Tap INSTALL
This button is located to the right of the Adblock Plus icon and is shaped like a stop sign with the letters 'ABP' on it.
Step 6. Open Settings
on your iPhone.
Press the Home button and then tap the Settings icon. This icon looks like a gray box with gears on it.
On an iPhone X, you have to swipe from the bottom up on the screen to shrink the App Store
Step 7. Scroll down and tap on Safari
This button is near the center of the Settings page.
Step 8. Scroll down and tap the Content Blocks button
This button can be found almost at the bottom of the Safari page.
Step 9. Tap on the white slider 'Adblock Plus'
The slider then turns green
Step 10. Now watch your videos on YouTube without ads
Open Safari on your iPhone and go to https://www.youtube.com/ to access YouTube on your mobile. Thanks to the Adblock Plus extension, you can now watch videos on YouTube without advertising from here.
Method 4 of 8: On a smartphone with Android
Step 1. Open the Play Store on your phone with Android
Tap the Play Store icon. It has the shape of a colored triangle against a white background.
Step #2. Tap on the search bar
You can find it at the top of the page.
Step 3. Now try to find Adblock Plus
Type in adblock plus and then tap the "Search" or "Enter" button.
Step #4. Tap on Adblock Browser for Android
This button is near the top of the search results page.

Step 5. Tap INSTALL
This green button is in the top right corner of the screen.
Step 6. Tap OPEN as soon as you can
This button will appear once the browser has finished installing. Tapping it opens the Adblock Browser for the Android web browser.
Step 7. Tap ON ONE STEP
This option is at the bottom of the screen.
Step 8. Tap the END button
This button is at the bottom of the screen. Tapping on it opens the browser.
Step 9. Open YouTube in your web browser. Tap the address bar at the top of the screen, then go to://www.youtube.com/. This is how you open YouTube on your mobile. Thanks to the Adblock Browser for Android, the videos you watch in YouTube will no longer be interrupted by advertisements. Click once or twice on the Firefox icon. It looks like an orange fox on a blue ball. This is the official page in Firefox for Adblock Plus. This button is on the right side of the page. Adblock Plus will then be added to Firefox. If this tab appears, you have successfully installed Adblock Plus. Once you have installed Adblock Plus, your videos in YouTube will no longer be interrupted by advertisements. Step 1. Open Start Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the screen. Step 2. Open the Microsoft Store. Click on Microsoft Store. It's a tab at the top right of the Store screen. Type in adblock plus and press ↵ Enter. It's a stop sign with the letters 'ADB' on it. This blue button is on the left side of the page. The Adblock Plus installation process will now begin. If you get the following message: 'Adblock Plus is now installed', you can proceed. Click the Edge icon once or twice. This icon is in the form of either a dark blue letter 'e' or a white letter 'e' against a dark blue background. You'll find this button in the top-right corner of the Edge window. A drop-down menu will then appear. You can find this option in the drop-down menu. You should see a list of all your extensions here, including Adblock Plus. This is how you activate Adblock Plus in your browser.
Step 10. Now watch videos in YouTube without ads
Method 5 of 8: In Firefox
Step 1. Open Firefox
Step 2. Open the website Adblock Plus extension page
Step 3. Click the ＋ Add to Firefox button
Step 4. When prompted, click Add
Step 5. Close the Adblock Plus tab as soon as it opens
Step 6. Now watch your videos in YouTube without advertising
Method 6 of 8: In Microsoft Edge
You will need to install Adblock Plus from the Microsoft Store, rather than downloading it from the Internet
Step #3. Click Search
Step 4. Now look for Adblock Plus
Step 5. Click on Adblock Plus
Step 6. Click Install
Step 7. Wait for Adblock Plus to be installed
Step 8. Open Microsoft Edge
Step 9. Click the ⋯ button
Step 10. Click on Extensions
Step 11. When prompted, click Enable
under the heading 'Adblock Plus'.
Step 12. Close the Adblock Plus tab as soon as it opens
Opening this tab means that you have successfully installed Adblock Plus in Microsoft Edge.
Step 13. Now watch videos in YouTube without advertising
Now that you have installed Adblock Plus, your videos in YouTube will no longer be interrupted by advertisements.
Method 7 of 8: Take YouTube Premium
Step 1. Open the YouTube Premium registration page
Go to https://www.youtube.com/premium in your computer's web browser.
If you have a YouTube Premium subscription, you will no longer see any advertisements when you watch YouTube videos on any device (a computer with Windows, a Mac, an iPhone, a smartphone with Android, an Xbox, etc.), if at least you're signed in to your account in Google
Step 2. Click TRY FOR FREE
It's a blue button in the middle of the page.
- If you've already signed in to your account in Google, and you've previously used a free month of YouTube Premium or YouTube Red, it says instead TAKE YOUTUBE PREMIUM on this button.
- If you haven't already signed in to your Google account, enter your email address and password when prompted, then click again before continuing. TRY FOR FREE.
Step 3. Enter your payment details
Here, enter your credit card number, expiration date, and security code in the provided text fields, then enter the address you would like to receive the invoice from, as shown on your bank statements, in the Billing Address text field.
- If you prefer to pay without credit card, click Add credit or debit card at the top of the window, then click Add New PayPal Account and execute the commands that appear on the screen.
- If you already have a credit card registered in Google, all you need to do is enter your credit card security code.
Step 4. Click on the BUY button
This option is at the bottom of the window. This is how you subscribe to YouTube Premium; you get a month for free, and then you will have to pay an amount every month.
- if you're on TAKE YOUTUBE PREMIUM click, instead of FREE TRIAL, you will immediately receive a bill when you TO BUY clicks.
Method 8 of 8: Turn off ads in your videos
Step 1. First, make sure you know when to do this
Only use this method if you want to turn off ads for videos you've put on YouTube so that your channel visitors can't see them. If that's not your goal, skip this method and try another.
If you remove the ads from one or more of your videos, that video will no longer make you money
Step 2. Open YouTube
Go to https://www.youtube.com/ in your computer's web browser. If you are already logged in to Google, you will automatically be taken to the YouTube home page.
- If you are not logged in yet, click on LOGIN at the top right of the page and enter your email address and password to continue.
- The above procedure can only be performed from a computer.
Step 3. Click on the icon of your profile
It's the circular icon in the top right corner of the page. A drop-down menu will then appear.
Step 4. Click on YouTube Studio (beta)
You can find this option in the drop-down menu. This will take you to the YouTube Studio page.
Step 5. Click on the Videos tab
You'll find this tab on the left side of the page. You should then see a list of the videos that you have previously uploaded to YouTube.
Step 6. Find the video you want to use
Scroll down until you find the video on which you want to turn off the ad.
Step 7. Click on the 'Monetization' drop-down box
This option is next to the title of the video. A drop-down menu will then appear.
If you don't see this option, it means your channel is not eligible for monetization. In that case, the viewers of your videos should not see any advertisements at all
Step 8. Click Off
This option is in the drop-down menu.
Step 9. Click SAVE
This option is in the lower right corner of the menu. That way you can turn off the advertising for the video you've selected, but the video won't make you any more money either.
