Email is simply one of the best ways to communicate in this digital age. It ensures that people can easily communicate with each other, both socially and professionally; but in order to read your e-mail you will need to be able to open it first, regardless of the e-mail program you use. It is important that you first open an account with an email provider. If you need to create an account first, you can find more information here.
Steps
Method 1 of 4: Opening an email on your computer

Step 1. Go to your email provider's website

Step 2. Log in to your email account

Step 3. Click on “Inbox”. A list of emails that have arrived in the recent or more distant past will appear
In general, the sender and subject will be shown so that you know who sent the email and what it is about.

Step 4. Click on one of your emails
The email will open in full screen or in a smaller window. Should the email open in full screen, there will usually be a "back" button or arrow on the left that will take you back to the previous screen. This will return you to the list of emails (your “inbox”).
Under the “Inbox” button you will usually find a number of other folders. For example, you can open the “Sent Mail” folder and then view an email you sent to someone else. The “Drafts” folder refers to emails you've started but haven't sent yet. Depending on your email provider, you may have different folders of emails
Method 2 of 4: Using iOS

Step 1. Open "Settings" and click on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars
"

Step 2. Tap on “Add Account
” Here you will find the options “iCloud,” “Exchange,” “Google,” “Yahoo,” “AOL.” and “Outlook” on. If your email account is one of this list, click on the appropriate email account. If your email account is not in this list, click “Other” and then “Add Account.”

Step 3. Enter your name
This will be sent with every email, so if you are using this account for professional purposes, make sure to choose a business name, or one that matches how you are known to the recipients of your email.

Step 4. Enter your email address
This should be the email address you want to use on your mobile.

Step 5. Enter your password
This is the password associated with the email address you just entered.

Step 6. Enter a description
The description allows you to know which email you are opening. For example, you can call it "work" if it is a business account or "gmail" if it is your personal Gmail account.

Step 7. Tap “Next” in the top right corner of the screen
Your account will then be checked.

Step 8. Press the home button to return to the main screen
Tap the Mail app. The new account is now shown with the description you have chosen. Tap the name of your account.

Step 9. Tap on a name from the list that appears
You have now opened an email. Now to return to the list of emails, tap “< Inbox” in the top left corner of the screen. Every time you tap on a sender, you will open the corresponding email.
Method 3 of 4: Using Android to access email from other accounts

Step 1. Open the Email (or Mail) app and choose “Set up a New Account
”

Step 2. Enter the email address you want to use and the corresponding password
Click on “Next.” The mobile will now check your email settings. If you have a Yahoo or Hotmail account, this will be sorted out relatively quickly.
- If the mobile cannot find the settings of your account, you will see some advanced settings. First, choose an account type such as IMAP, POP3, or Exchange. Exchange is mostly used for business accounts, and IMAP or POP3 mostly for general accounts. IMAP is usually recommended by email providers, but check with your provider for specific preferences.
- After choosing the account type, enter the “Incoming server settings” and then the “Outgoing server settings”. Again, check with your own provider for server specific settings.

Step 3. Select your options for the account
A list of options will appear that you can enable or disable as desired. Click on “Next” when you are done.
- Enabling “Send email from this account by default” makes this email account the default email address. Every email sent uses this address.
- Check “Notify me when e-mail arrives” if you want to be notified of every incoming e-mail. This can drain your battery quickly and will drain your data limit as your mobile periodically checks for new email. You can also click the top bar, above these options, to change the frequency of checking.
- Check “Sync email from this account” to automatically sync your email. This allows you to back up your data.
- Check “Automatically download attachments when connected to WiFi” to automatically download attachments when opening your email. This is usually useful, unless your Internet connection is very slow, or if you're using an insecure, public Wi-Fi network when you want to access sensitive information.

Step 4. Give the account a clear description
For example, this could be something like “Yahoo Email.” It is useful to give each account its own clear name.

Step 5. Enter your name
It will appear above every email you send, so keep it professional when it comes to business email. Click on “Next” and your email account will be added to your mobile.

Step 6. Tap on your new account in your Mail app
Then tap the email you want to read to open it. To return to your emails, click the back arrow at the bottom of the screen.
Method 4 of 4: Using Android to open Gmail

Step 1. Open “Settings” and scroll down to “Accounts
Tap on “Add Account.”
Since Android is from Google, it uses a specific Gmail app and not the Email app

Step #2. Tap “Google
Then tap “Existing.”

Step 3. Enter your Google email and password
Tap “OK” to agree to the terms of use. You will be signed into your account.
You may be asked to join Google+ or Google Play. Just check or uncheck the options as desired

Step #4. Tap an email to open and read it
You can return to your email list by tapping the back arrow in the bottom bar.
